Character Backstory Generator

A backstory is the part of the character the reader never quite sees. The generator opens with a Drama genre, a bittersweet tone, and a flash-fiction length — short enough to read as a profile, long enough to leave something behind.

Put the character's name in the cast field and the formative moment in the scenario field (a goodbye, a betrayal, an inheritance, a quiet decision at fourteen). The draft writes the small history around it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I generate a backstory for an existing character?
Use a name and a few facts in the scenario field. The draft writes an original backstory consistent with the inputs you supply.
Is the backstory canon-compatible?
It will be coherent with what you write into the brief. Add canon-relevant constraints in the plot notes field if you need it to fit a specific timeline.
Can I get multiple backstories for one character?
Yes. Regenerate produces a fresh take from the same brief, and you can save each version to local history.
